Na het diepgravende onderzoek van EO journaliste Mirjam van der Vegt -die de vijfde bruid van satan voor de hele wereld opspoorde, valt het natuurlijk niet mee om eerdere '(v)echtgenoten' van de heer S. wonende te de H. op te sporen. Maar het is me gelukt!

Gelukkig zijn het er niet meer dan vijf als we Mirjam van der Vegt mogen geloven, hetgeen trouwens duidt op matigheid bij meneer S., die in de fundamentalistische visie toch zeker tussen de tien- en vijftienduizend jaar oud moet zijn.
Één bruid per twee à drieduizend jaar lijkt me toch heel bescheiden, zeker als je bedenkt dat koning Salomo er zo'n 700 vrouwen en 300 concubines op nahield ( I Koningen 11 vers 3).

Het begint allemaal zo mooi: ze trouwen in een door satan afgehuurde presbyteriaanse kerk en de gelukkige bruid ontmoet als echtgenote van meneer S. de groten der aarde, zoals wereldleiders én Paus Johannes Paules II!

Ik heb het hier over Elaine Moses, een eerdere bruid van satan. Haar relaas wordt verteld door de arts Rebecca Brown (oorspronkelijke naam: Ruth Irene Bailey) in de bestseller :"He came to set the captives Free".

Het begint dus al goed: de bron is niet een of andere vage journaliste van de soms volledig onbetrouwbare EO, maar een echte arts!

Ik ga maar even heel kort door het boek heen: Elaine wordt in ruil voor wat bloed verkocht aan satan.
Ze raakt betrokken bij hekserij, klimt op in rang en wordt op een nationale heksenwedstrijd verkozen tot opperheks.

"A crown of gold was placed upon my head and my fellow cult members bowed down and gave homage to me," she says. "I was treated like a queen ... I was given all the beautiful clothes to wear that I could possibly want. I was bathed, my hair fixed and I was waited on hand and foot by servants. There were parties and I always had a handsome escort who was also my body guard ... My escort always tasted all of my food before I ate to make sure that it wasn't poisoned."

Ze trouwt satan (de bruidegom draagt een witte smoking) in een afgehuurde presbyteriaanse kerk, en na de huwelijksgelofte (wat zullen ze in helsnaam elkaar beloofd hebben?) spoeden ze zich naar het vliegveld waar satans luxe privé jet wacht om hen naar hun buitenhuis in Californië te brengen.

Elaine wordt satan's vertegenwoordiger op aarde en is betrokken bij wapendeals met allerlei regeringsleiders. Ze is bezeten van een demoon, genaamd "Mann-Chan" en spreekt vreemde talen vloeiend.
Uit de woorden van Elaine valt op te maken dat ook de paus betrokken is bij het wereldwijde occulte netwerk dat ze leidt:
"The Pope knew very well who I was. We worked closely both with the Catholics -- especially the Jesuits -- and the high-ranking Masons."
Als er iemand uit de weg geruimd moest worden zorgde dit driemanschap van satanisten, de Kath. Kerk en de Vrijmetselaars daar wel voor!

Natuurlijk ontbreken ook in dit verslag de sappige details niet:

Over mensenoffers:
"I watched in utter horror as a crown of huge long thorns was driven into the young man's head. The thorns going in so deep as to pierce into his skull... Finally he was nailed to a wooden cross which was then picked up and placed in a hole in the ground, just in front of the middle of the platform. I will never forget the stench of the burned and tormented flesh, the screams of the victim, his writhing agony, his pleas for mercy..." 

Over haar huwelijk:
"Again he appeared as a man, dressed completely in white, wearing a crown of gold with many jewels in it. The whole congregation stood with a shout and much worship was given to Satan. Then, at a sign from Satan, all heads turned to the back and I started forward down the aisle. I was escorted by the high priest, followed by the Sisters of Light. When I reached the end of the aisle I stopped before Satan's throne and bowed down before him and did him homage. Then he gave me the command to rise. As I did so, he arose from his throne and came down to stand beside me. The high priest performed the wedding ceremony.... Satan gave me a beautiful broad gold wedding band with an inscription inside it which said: 'Behold the bride of the Prince of the world.'"

Over haar activiteiten:
"I also made a number of trips to other countries. I have been to Mecca, Israel, Egypt, also the Vatican in Rome to meet with the Pope. All my trips were for the purpose of coordinating Satan's programs with satanists in other lands, as well as meeting with various government officials to discuss aid to their countries in the form of money. A few did not know that I was a satanist, but thought I was associated with a powerful wealthy organization of some kind. People asking for money don't ask too many questions. The Pope knew very well who I was. We worked closely both with the Catholics (especially the Jesuits) and the high-ranking Masons.

It was during this time that I met many of the well known Rock music stars. They all signed contracts with Satan in return for fame and fortune."

Om kort te gaan, het huwelijk met meneer S. loopt spaak door het moedige optreden van dokter Rebecca Brown, die haar uit de klauwen van satan weet te redden. Een en ander wordt in het bovengenoemde boek gedetailleerd beschreven.

Er zijn helaas wel wat probleempjes met dit sensationele verhaal.
De schrijfster (Ruth Irene Bailey, aka Rebecca Brown) blijkt volledig geschift en is haar licentie als praktiserend arts kwijtgeraakt.
De rechtbank noemt onder andere: stelselmatige misdiagnoses, de bewering dat ze door God gekozen is om als enige arts de juiste diagnose te stellen en haar omschrijving van collega artsen als "demons, devils and other evil spirits".
En dan het misbruik van Demerol, een zwaarverslavende pijnstiller, die ze o.a. zichzelf en Elaine veelvuldig toedient. 

Illustratief is tevens dat Rebecca ziekten van haar patienten overnam/ er mee aan ging lijden: "in fighting the demons, devils and other evil spirits that were allegedly causing the various ailments and conditions".

The Indianapolis News over dokter Baily/Brown:
"Testimony for 19 witnesses revealed that Dr. Bailey, a former registered nurse, began an impressive medical career in 1979 after excelling in medical school.
Over the last three years she deteriorated into a woman plagued by drug addiction, religious extremism and a belief that patients and colleagues were possessed by devils, witnesses said.
Several witnesses declined to reveal their current addresses saying they feared retaliation from Dr. Bailey. The physician carries a handgun and has threatened to harm people she claims are possessed, they said.
'Her diagnosis was that I was possessed by many demons, including one like an octopus with long tentacles.."

Conclusie: Rebecca Brown, alias Dr. Baily valt niet serieus te nemen. We moeten eigenlijk medelijden met haar hebben, want ze lijdt aan demonische geobsedeerdheid.

Wat er precies van Elaine Moses geworden is, is me nog onbekend.
Rebecca Brown schrijft ondertussen onverstoord nieuwe boeken in het demonische genre.
